Sunday 1 April 2012

All of a sudden Spring became Summer! 20 degrees and not a cloud in the sky; the hottest March on record, no wonder the hares were going mad....and so were the fish. Flies hatching, buzzers buzzing, rainbows rising, browns.... er....doing what browns do, anyway, March has been excellent at Morton Fishings.

Bill Begby had a superb bag of 4 for 29lb on Hot Head Dancer with the best a cracker of 14lb! Alex Given used Damsels and Buzzers to take a bag of 4 for 13lb 9oz whilst Derek Hawthorne had 10 on c/r to Buzzers as well. John Wood had 4 for 14lb on Yellow Dancers and Alex Gunn used Buzzers and Cormorants to good effect taking 11 on c/r. W. Gilchrist went one better with 12 on c/r as did Jim Muir, both using Black Buzzers. G. Little had a beauty of 10lb 8oz on a Bloodworm pattern and he also returned another seven. M. Leask had 7 also on Bloodworm.

The Portobello AC had a good day out with K. Kettles taking 4 for 13lb, T. Fusco 4 for 10lb, and A. Taylor 4 for 10lb. A. Moore had 4 for 10lb 8oz on Damsel with A. Adams using Buzzers to take a bag of 4 for 10lb.

April is upon us but we are no Fools - a wee cold spell is expected but then it is game on!
